We carry out fire hydrant flow and pressure testing to BS 750 (Underground Fire Hydrants) and BS 9990:2015. All underground fire hydrants on the Irish Water network are 80mm screw-down type to BS 750. Testing is required as part of the Taking in Charge process for newly constructed water supply infrastructure, as part of periodic maintenance programmes, and to support hydraulic network modelling and fire authority requirements. Each hydrant is visually inspected for damage and obstruction, and each hydrant chamber is assessed for condition. Flow and pressure testing is then carried out to measure static pressure, residual pressure under flow, and maximum sustainable flow rate. Results are documented per hydrant and submitted as part of the Final Documents required for Conformance Certificate application and Taking in Charge by Irish Water.

What We Carry Out

  • Visual inspection of each hydrant and hydrant chamber for damage, obstruction, and condition
  • Static pressure measurement
  • Residual pressure under flow
  • Maximum sustainable flow rate
  • Full hydrant and chamber condition assessment
  • Testing to BS 750 (Underground Fire Hydrants) and BS 9990:2015
  • Full written test report issued per hydrant
  • Results suitable for Final Documents and Taking in Charge submission to Irish Water
