Electrofusion (EF) jointing is used to join polyethylene (PE) water main pipe sections and fittings where butt fusion welding is not appropriate — typically for couplers, elbows, tees, reducers, and saddle tapping assemblies. All EF jointing is carried out in accordance with WIS 4-32-08 (Specification for the Fusion Jointing of Polyethylene Pressure Pipeline Systems Using PE80 and PE100 Materials), as required under IW-CDS-5020-03 Section 4.10.3.3. Our EUSR certified welders maintain full fusion traceability records per joint, and GPS co-ordinates are recorded at each joint location for submission as part of the Final Documents required for Conformance Certificate application by Irish Water.

What We Carry Out

  • EF coupler jointing for PE80 and PE100 HDPE pipe, all diameters
  • EF fittings — elbows, tees, reducers, end caps
  • Electrofusion saddle tapping assemblies — 2-minute hydraulic test at 18 Bar applied to each fused saddle fitting prior to tapping, per WIS 4-32-08
  • EUSR certified welders — current logbook holders
  • Full fusion traceability records per joint: pipe batch, fitting batch, welder ID, machine serial, fusion parameters, date and time
  • GPS joint location records submitted as part of Final Documents
  • Works carried out in accordance with WIS 4-32-08 and IW-CDS-5020-03
